Prince William Sound Pink Surges to 3.8 Million Fish
Statewide harvest reaches 87.0 million fish, 73% of the ADF&G forecast. PWS pink surged 50% week over week to 3.8 million. Bristol Bay sockeye is at 92% of forecast. Coho builds as September opens.

Statewide harvest stands at 87.0 million fish, 73 percent of the 119.9 million fish ADF&G projected for 2026. Sockeye (reds) are at 85 percent of forecast on 37.6 million fish statewide. Prince William Sound pink (humpies) posted the week's biggest volume move, adding 1.27 million fish to reach 3.80 million cumulative.
- Prince William Sound Pink: 3.80M fish, up 50.2% week over week from 2.53M fish a week ago. PWS is 22 percent of forecast, furthest behind of any district despite the week's gain.
- Prince William Sound Coho (silvers): 248K fish, up 65.3% week over week from 150K fish a week ago. Coho runs are building into September across the Sound.
- Southeast Alaska Coho and Chinook (kings): Coho reached 613K fish, up 33.0% from 461K a week ago. Chinook reached 151K fish, up 10.2% from 137K a week ago. Per ADF&G's Sep 4 in-season summary, the second Chinook troll retention period closed Sep 4 at 11:59 p.m., ending summer troll targeting of Chinook in waters of frequent high abundance.
- Southeast Alaska Pink and Chum (dogs): Pink reached 17.5M fish, up 8.0% from 16.2M a week ago. Chum reached 7.93M fish, up 6.6% from 7.44M a week ago. ADF&G's Sep 4 in-season summary notes directed pink seine fisheries are closed in all Southeast districts for the remainder of the season.
- District scoreboard: Bristol Bay sockeye at 30.0M fish, 92 percent of the 32.9M fish forecast. Cook Inlet at 111 percent (1.17M fish). Kodiak at 98 percent (14.8M fish), with coho at 170K fish, up 8.3% from 157K a week ago.
September is the coho close-out period for most of the state. Most sockeye fisheries are done for the season.
